Disclaimer: I partnered with California Dried Prunes for this Blog Post, however, all opinions are those of my own. And really, prunes have always been a part of my daily diet, so why not make them yours!
It’s the New Year! Resolutions are flowing left, right and centre, and you’re probably thinking, “Will I be successful this year”? May I suggest that instead of telling yourself “I’m not going to do something”, turn it around to say, “I’m going TO DO ____ instead”. Let’s talk about that sweet tooth we’re trying to break through from all of the holiday goodies that may have been around.
How many times do you reach for something packaged, bought, or high in refined sugar when you crave that “sweet something”? C’mon be honest! Here’s the thing. If you are craving something sweet, grab a fruit – fresh or dried! I absolutely LOVE keeping prunes from California in my refrigerator and have used them in so many ways to add a natural sweetness to any meal or snack! Have that sweet tooth fighting you after a meal? Consider this simple healthy and tasty recipe for Roasted Cherry and Prune Ramekins:
- Preheat oven to 375oF
- In a small bowl, chop 4-5 prunes and add 10-12 frozen dark sweet cherries. Mix to combine.
- Add the fruit to an oven-safe 1-Cup ramekin.
- Bake for 10 minutes. Remove from oven and allow to cool slightly.
- Top with Natural or Vanilla Greek yogurt and 2 Tbsp of your favourite granola (*try my No-bake Granola or Gingerbread Granola available on my website)
- Enjoy!
Why prunes? Well, they help to maintain healthy bowels, lower cholesterol, and MY favourite new knowledge tip, they contain manganese and Vitamin K which support our bone health. So, not only are you supporting that sweet craving, but also your body in so many other ways that helps you maintain an overall healthier life.
